About Me

That White Hat WizardI was born in South Africa in 1972, the last of three siblings and was whisked off to Japan two years later with my dad who was, at that time, an engineer building what was then the largest computer in the world. I believe that this is where my love for technology was born.

In about 1982, 10 years old, I had my first introduction to the programming world in the form of a course on “BASIC” programming on a ZX Spectrum and the bug bit and bit hard. I rapidly progressed to writing my own games in “BASICA” and saving them on the only cassette I had at that time.

At the age of fourteen, my love for photography was born when I captured a stunning image of a Nyala on a Kodac film camera. This passion I pursued when in the Middle East with my first purchase of a Yashica manual SLR. On returning to South Africa, I did a short course in black and white film photography.

Having already had a solid background in PC hardware, my first introduction into SEO (search engine optimization) was after creating my third photographic website. Looking into the first two websites, I quickly realized that it was a complete waste of time doing any website development that was not optimized for search engines. This is where months of studying, research and experimentation in the field of SEO began. I was completely sold on the concept and made a conscious decision to do absolutely everything that I learned to do and do it in a fashion that was in accordance with webmaster guidelines and started to see solid results in a few months.

A large quantity of SEO can be done without a knowledge of HTML but one soon starts reaching a ceiling and I decided that the only way forward was to begin HTML studies and here another passion began. A love for coding. The mere idea of creating visually appealing web pages from letters, characters and numbers was something that instantly appealed to the core of my imagination.

The combination of the visual elements of photography, the architectural foundations in SEO and the developmental side in code is, to me, the ideal recipe for the creation of successful websites that offer lasting performance and a solid anchor for the online presence for any individual or business.
